Microsoft buys search company

Microsoft has announced plans to buy over Powerset Inc., an Internet search company, which is the latest acquisition aimed at bolstering its search capability.
Powerset, which is based in San Francisco, specialises in “semantic search” technology that contextualizes search queries to improve results.
Over the last two years, Microsoft has spent approximately $8 billion on buyouts of other companies, as well as $500 million on internal development. As of this year, nine of Microsoft’s fifteen acquisitions have been in the Internet sector.

Far West Rice Mills in Nelson, California, on Wednesday has installed a one megawatt solar array that will provide three-fourths of its electricity. Pumping out that energy will be 5,500 solar panels from Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics and was installed by Pacific Power Management.

Basis - Home prices are dropping because finance companies were charging exorbitant interest rates, and homeowners who are unable to keep up with these exorbitant interest rates are forced to sell.
